In re: Amendments to the Florida Rules of Judicial Administration/2020 Regular-Cycle Report

Case No. SC20-165

The Florida Supreme Court adopted the Rules of Judicial Administration Committee's regular-cycle amendments, renaming the chapter the 'Florida Rules of General Practice and Judicial Administration' (Fla. R. Gen. Prac. & Jud. Admin.), substantially rewriting rule 2.330 on disqualification of trial judges, overhauling rule 2.505 on attorney appearance, substitution, stand-in counsel and termination of representation, and tightening rule 2.510's pro hac vice disclosure requirements. The Court declined to adopt the proposed reorganization of rule 2.420 (public access to judicial branch records) because the proposals appeared to make unexplained substantive changes. Amendments took effect March 1, 2021.
