In re: Amendments to Rules Regulating The Florida Bar emdash Chapter 4

Case No. SC2024-0032

On the Bar's petition, the Florida Supreme Court amended Chapter 4 of the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar, adding comments to rules 4-1.1, 4-1.6, 4-5.1, and 4-5.3 warning lawyers to take care in using generative artificial intelligence (competence, confidentiality, and supervision of lawyers and nonlawyers), and amending rules 4-7.13 and 4-7.15 to permit advertising testimonials by a celebrity who is a current or former client. The Court declined to delete references to 'zeal'/'zealous' from the Preamble and rule 4-1.3, and declined to extend rule 4-8.6(e)'s severance requirement to emergency or indefinite suspensions. Amendments take effect October 28, 2024.
