In re: Amendments to Florida Rules of Civil Procedure – Uniform Guidelines for Taxation of Costs

Case No. SC21-1581

The Florida Supreme Court adopted the Civil Procedure Rules Committee's proposed amendments to Appendix II of the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure, the Statewide Uniform Guidelines for Taxation of Costs in Civil Actions. The amendments expand costs that should be taxed to include audiovisually recorded depositions, filing and service of process fees, and expert fees for 'court testimony' rather than only 'trial testimony,' and expand costs that may be taxed to include court-ordered nonbinding arbitration fees and a range of testifying-expert fees. The amendments took effect January 1, 2023.
