In re: Amendments to Florida Rules of Appellate Procedure 9.020 and 9.100

On the Appellate Court Rules Committee's report, the Florida Supreme Court adopted amendments to Rules 9.020 and 9.100 effective October 1, 2026. Rule 9.020(e) is amended to define 'lower tribunal' as the court, judge, agency, officer, official, board, commission, or body whose order, action, or inaction is the subject of a proceeding under the rules, and Rule 9.100 is restructured to clarify who must be served with petitions in original proceedings and what happens after the petition is served.
