In re: Amendments to Florida Rule of Civil Procedure 1.200
On the Civil Procedure Rules Committee's report, the Florida Supreme Court declined the Committee's proposed amendment to rule 1.200(h) and instead amended the rule itself. As amended, when a case does not reach trial during the court-ordered trial period, the court must set a new trial period as soon as practicable considering not only the needs of the case and the resources of the court but also the 'availability of the parties.' The amendment takes effect January 1, 2027.
