City of Tallahassee v. Florida Police Benevolent Association, Inc.
After two Tallahassee officers used lethal force in self-defense, the police union sought to block the City from releasing their names, invoking Marsy's Law (art. I, § 16(b)(5), Fla. Const.). The Florida Supreme Court held that Marsy's Law confers no categorical right for any crime victim to withhold his or her name from disclosure, quashing the First District's contrary decision and leaving statutory public-records exemptions intact.
