American Southern Home Insurance Co. v. Lentini
The Florida Supreme Court resolved a certified conflict over whether an insurer issuing a reduced-premium collector vehicle policy may limit uninsured motorist (UM) coverage to accidents involving the collector vehicle. The Court held that section 627.727, Florida Statutes, makes no distinction among types of 'motor vehicles,' so the collector policy's limitation of UM coverage to the insured Corvette violated the statute where the insurer never obtained the insured's informed written consent under section 627.727(9)(d). The Court approved Lentini (5th DCA) and disapproved Martin (2d DCA).
